After a very long and difficult year of health struggles, supply chain interruptions, and inability to find reliable help that resulted in significant processing delays I'm beyond elated to be able to say we're nearly at the end!
I'm now working through the last handful of delayed orders-which were mostly waiting on titanium-and replacements for the large number of orders that went missing during October after a USPS glitch caused tracking numbers to be recycled early and resulted in orders not scanning and being mis-delivered (and in many cases, just dropped off the face of the planet). We've hit some snags as the new assistant I've been trying to train has had difficulties getting the hang of the packaging/shipping part of the job, resulting in many swapped labels and orders sent to the wrong customers (and things like missing thumb splint chains), but thankfully have been able to resolve them quickly. Overall the processing time for new orders has been largely back to normal-with the exception of very large/complicated orders and titanium due to it's extended processing time in general-for a few months now, and we should soon be over this last hump so that everything is back on track. I'm even finally-after 8 months-able to take the delay notices off the IP/MCP combination splints!
And to top that-while the rapid and severe decline in my health and function over the last few weeks has been terrifying, it brought about an answer and for the first time since my EDS diagnosis-HOPE. Long overlooked and dismissed it's highly highly likely that all of this has been due to hypothyroidism, allowed to run rampant and unchecked for 8 years because lab tests were "normal". However like many with EDS (nearly 90%!) I most likely have MTHFR mutations, and just to my body doesn't convert vitamins to their usable methylated forms it's not converting T4 to the usable T3.
So much of my illness and disability can be resolved with adding a single medication, and I don't even have words for how that feels ❤
I sincerely apologize for the delays and resulting frustration and inconvenience they've caused. Everyone's patience and understanding as I navigated these issues has been so greatly appreciated, and I'm so excited for the changes that the new year will bring!
